This course provides an in-depth exploration of media literacy education (MLE) within the framework of theology and pastoral ministries. It examines the profound influence of the digital and virtual world on individuals and communities, emphasizing the continuous impact it has on shaping our identities and perspectives. Through a critical lens, the course delves into the positive characteristics and challenges posed by various media forms, highlighting the importance of discernment and critical thinking in navigating today's media landscape. Students will gain an understanding of what constitutes media literacy education and its relevance in contemporary society. Participants will be provided with a toolkit with which they can explore various creative tools that they may use in preparing material for pastoral work.
This course is designed to give the extraordinary minister formation and direction for distributing communion during masses and to be a guide to help him/her in taking communion to those who are unable to join the community in person. By the end of this course, the student will: Have a basic biblical and theological understanding of the teachings related to the Eucharist. Learn most matters concerning the rite of Communion. Learn to appreciate the sacrament of Holy Communion. Acquire a deeper knowledge of the role of the extraordinary minister. Grasp the spiritual meaning that this role entails Please Note: Doing this course does not entitle the student to become an extraordinary minister of Holy Communion. Extraordinary ministers are chosen by the pastor of the parish/community.

These include fundamental, scriptural, dogmatic, ecclesiological, and ethical concepts that guide the evangelizing mission of the Church. By the end of the course, the attendee will become aware of what the sources of theology are and gain a basic understanding of the main areas of Catholic theology.

Our relationship with God is not supposed to stay within the walls of our parish church when we leave after Sunday Mass. In this course, Living Beyond Sunday, we explore how the liturgy, as the source and summit of Christian life, can inspire and shape our daily living. The course invites adults to discover how the rhythm of the liturgical year offers a spiritual framework that can be lived out beyond the church walls. Through practical suggestions and reflective insights, participants will learn how to engage with the seasons of the Church and bring the richness of Sunday into everyday life—making faith more tangible, meaningful, and transformative throughout the week.

“Discernment” has become a buzzword in contemporary Church circles, thanks to late Pope Francis’ frequent invitations to undertaking discerning processes. The influence of the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola (founder of the Jesuit order) is clear: indeed, some of the more famous and more frequently quoted parts of this classic Christian work are in fact the “Rules for Discernment of Spirits”. Centuries of Church experience have proven these rules to be a solid foundation for proceeding in a journey of discernment with greater security and depth. By attending this course, students will become familiar with the Rules for Discernment of Spirits outlined by St. Ignatius in his Exercises: their content, their timing within the dynamic of the Spiritual Exercises, their continuing validity and correct implementation in today’s world. Enriched by this knowledge, students will then also explore Ignatius’ proposals for how to pray about fundamental life choices.
